Quality assuring an ethical education curriculum for schools in Ireland

Abstract The growth of multidenominational schools internationally has led to a greater emphasis on the provision ethical education curricula in many countries as opposed more traditional denominational instruction. One main providers Ireland is Educate Together, an organisation which currently serves patron body for 95 primary and 19 s level schools, catering over 30,000 students. In early years 21st century, Together introduced Learn curriculum its key component model. This encourages students meaningfully critically reflect upon world around them focuses questions equality, justice, sustainability active citizenship. While guidance documents, resources professional development teachers were provided support delivery curriculum, until recently there was no established approach quality assurance. It within this context that developed Quality Framework ethos, aspect entitled Together. involved standards, statements effective practice internal school self-evaluation process. research paper explores framework, process used by six order evaluate their curriculum. Documentary analysis evaluation documentation from each participating explore practices utilised curriculum; challenges identified improvements planned implement improve highlights multiple administering providing while also demonstrating effectiveness identifying addressing these challenges.
